Edit Profile
Department of Education Accredited Private School

The Parish of St. Michael Archangel, is predominantly Catholic. Catholic population accounts for 69.18% or 5,368 people of the 7,760 total population as of 1999 survey conducted by the Municipal Government of Calatrava.
In 1993, The Parish Pastoral Council of the Parish of St. Michael Archangel, in its continuous effort to help the government provide for some of the needs of the people, especially for the catholic population, it decided to put up services that especially targeted the children as primary beneficiaries of its program. As a result, Fr. Nestor Gadon, its Parish Priest, with the help of Ms. Alicia C. Fetalvero and Mr. Ramon Reandelar of the Teachers and Evangelizers Assisting the Church (TEACH) Group decided to put up on the same year the Guardian Angel Learning Center (GALC) that offered pre-school education for children aged 4 to 5 years old. It was initially housed in a modest building made of nipa and bamboo slats. Funds for the operation of the school are taken from the initial contributions of the TEACH Group, the members of the School Board, by the Parish Pastoral Council of St. Michael Archangel Parish, some benefactors and donors.
The Educational Research and Development Assistance, Inc. (ERDA), a foreign-based institution introduced and facilitated in the Diocese by the Ancilla Domus Dei Sister, was the Center’s biggest donor/sponsor. It assisted our Pre-school teachers with the internationally accepted Montessori teaching curricula, teaching aids, reference materials and supplies, even the school cards, ribbons, medals, and certificates for the children. It also supplied the pre-school children their activity booklets, school supplies to the Pre-school children, even Christmas gifts, and a small fund for the Christmas party of the children. ERDA likewise gives a modest fee to our teachers in the Pre-school. In return, the children give their Annual Participation Fee back to ERDA. The school on the other hand gets tuition fees per month from the children. Its first teacher was Ms. Edna Fajutag.
By 1995, when the Parish organized its social action arm, the St. Michael Parish Community Service Center (SMP CSC), whose tie up with Christian Children Welfare Association (CCWA) and programs specially benefited the children that included those enrolled in the Guardian Angel Learning Center, the school opened up its Kindergarten or Day Care for children aged 3 to 4 years old. It adopted the curriculum developed by CCWA with the help of ANAK-Social Development Index and PETA. Its Catechetical and Values formation Curriculum on the other hand was provided by the Catechetical Commission of the Diocese of Romblon. Its first teacher was Ms. Pinky Fadriquelan. It was also with the help of SMP CSC and its sponsored families that the Parish was able to put up a two-story building in Barangay Poblacion that now houses the Kindergarten and the Pre-school of the then Guardian Angel Learning Center (GALC), the Principal’s Office, and the School Library whose thousands of books were supplied by Bagong Kulturang Pinoy, Inc., a US-based Filipino organization.
Facilitated by Fr. Nestor Gadon and Monching Reandelar, the parish, with the help of the Balogo Barangay Chapel Officers and parishioners, ERDA, and donors Atty. Jose Reandelar and Ms. Delia Famatiga also opened up Guardian Angel Learning Center 2 in Barangay Balogo. It put up in its own lot a two-classroom building for its Kindergarten and Pre-school. Its first teachers were Ms. Amelita Lucas and Ms. Marina.
In the year 1996, Guardian Angel Learning Center was officially registered as a Private School institution with the Department of Education, Culture and Sports. Today, Guardian Angel Learning Center has progressed into a more stable and highly sought educational center in the Municipality of Calatrava.
