The MOWELFUND FILM INSTITUTE (MFI) is the education arm of the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Inc. (MOWELFUND) - a private, non-stock, non-profit organization.
Since its creation in 1979, MFI is proud of its survival, its dedication to learning, its willingness to innovate, and its passion for film, not only as a medium of entertainment, but as a very powerful visual and communication art form, always in evolution.
It is proud of its teaching pool of firm artists who are willing to share what they have learned. It is proud of its students who overcame the limitations and made films that are short but full of their independent visions and newfound voices. These new filmmakers have bravely given birth to a young creative movement that dares to redefine Philippine filmscape.
MFI does not give a degree or assure anybody a film career. It can only give the opportunity to start and learn with other filmmakers, and the hope to make more meaningful films.
